How Builders Insurance Saved The Day But Lost the War

Construction begin as normal. I had all my ducks in row, a hefty builder's insurance on my side, and location you wouldn't believe. It was all going so swimmingly, I am not sure why I was so surprised when in came tumbling down within a matter of minutes. Who knew the apocalypse of 2012 was actually going to happen. Even more shocking was the fact that my builder's insurance covered the damages of hellfire.

It all happen so suddenly I am not sure where exactly to begin. In fact, I am not sure if anyone knows how it first started. Communication has been drastically reduced since the end of the world. Stories are floating around about how it began, but who knows what the truth really is. All anyone knows for sure is that we, the citizens of Earth, were enjoying a nice lazy Sunday when all of a sudden the ground began to shake. It wasn't an earthquake as much as if the ground was trembling in fear. Small holes opened up on the earth's surface, shooting forth boiling hot magma. Everything immediately caught fire and the sky turned pitch black from all the smoke.

Now my neighbor, Bob, is real skeptic about doomsday predictions and simply blamed it on global warming and continued to BBQ. The odd part about it is how many people still showed up at his house to eat hamburgers. He does manage a quality grill, but the world was literally ending and people were standing in line as the world crumbled around them. I will admit this is the first of Bob's BBQ's I have ever missed, but I feel it was with good reason.

Luckily, my house was built back in the fifties and the basement had been converted into a fallout shelter. I tried to invite Bob's guest over, but they weren't having it. It was not long before everything got real loud as planes fell from the sky, and people finally accepted what was going on. It was even a shorter amount of time before everything got real quiet. I decided to wait it out a few day before checking out the situation.

By the time I had surfaced the world was nothing but a former shadow of its once glorious self. The first thing I did was call my ex-wife. There's was no answer so I called my insurance company who was covering the new sky scraper I was building. Turns out their corporate office was untouched and they mailed a check out without even viewing the damage. Unfortunately, I am having a little trouble finding a bank that is still open. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can get this check cashed so I can start my new line of business. I am planning on exiting the construction business and opening of a chain of BBQ joints. With Bob gone there is no one to stop me from finally stealing his secret recipe.
